NC AHEC RN Refresher Program

NC AHEC offers a self-paced RN Refresher Program for registered nurses (RNs) who want to return to active practice. The modules are offered by UNC-Chapel Hill School of Nursing and managed by South Piedmont AHEC. The clinical component is 140 hours of precepted clinical experience and is coordinated by Eastern AHEC.  Enrollment is ongoing.

Fees for this course include:

Pam Bowman, MSN, RN, OCN, RN Refresher Coordinator and recent graduate Nicole McLawhorn, RN at completion of her clinical hours for the RN Refresher program. “I had an amazing experience.”

You know you have a great talent and passion for nursing.  Believe in yourself.
I personally registered for the RN refresher course at Eastern AHEC in 2016 after stopping my nursing career for 12 years.  Thanks to the great program at Eastern AHEC as well as the encouragement of the kind RN refresher coordinator, I was able to return to nursing without difficulty in 2016.  I worked at ECU Health as an RN about 6 years and transitioned to work at Pitt Community College as a full-time nursing faculty in 2022.  —Minkyoung Kim, MSN, RN
